When marriage, partnership, or property purchase contracts are notarized with foreign parties, or when individuals with insufficient Albanian language skills participate in judicial proceedings as plaintiffs, witnesses, or defendants, it is of particular importance that no communication problems arise with the help of the court interpreter. After all, none of the parties wishes to face legal consequences due to a lack of language skills.
The court interpreter often comes across very detailed and sensitive content during their work, which is, of course, treated with strict confidentiality.
Before each interpretation in court, the court interpreter refers to their general oath of office. If no generally sworn interpreter is available for a specific language at a particular date, the judge may also appoint a non-sworn interpreter, who will be sworn in by the judge for that specific session before the hearing takes place.
Court and notarial interpreters are distinguished not only by their language skills, but also by their thorough familiarity with the procedures, customs, and terminology commonly used in the judiciary, legal profession, and administration.
